DFI Workflow Session 2 Friday Cohort Auckland

DFI  Workflow Week 2

Hang outs practicum was very informative and demonstrated how valuable a tool being able to sharing a presentation to a group while presenting online with no barriers to where a participants is based geographically.  Also how to manage the quality of  the hang out regarding feedback and how important it is not to share a device to ensure each person is kanohi ki te kanohi face to face when share in the hang out.

Learning today

Empowered korero regarding ‘It's not just a tool’ it offers new experiences especially in the current environment of the Covid 19 pandemic where Mananaiakalani cluster schools have been able to continue to offer digital learnings  under difficult circumstances.Well done for the forward thinking of the Trust.

Consideration to take up the challenge of  5+ a day blogging to support my learning and development using various tools.

Once I understood how to navigate basic bite coding I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Thank you  Gerhard for your hand holding.

Thanks once again for the support much appreciated.

Enabling Access- Sites Session 6 Friday Cohort Auckland

Enabling Access- Sites  Session 6

Evaluating class sites sessions was a great opportunity to review some creativity in the use of different tools to support students learning and to understand some of the issues of trying to navigate a busy overloaded site or that you can't access.

My learning today

Class started at 8 am not 9 am. My apologies I need to read the agenda properly the night before.
Two successful ingredients into developing a learning Site are the  visual appeal
( which I respond well too) and site functionality which requires good planning and
focus to avoid having to much on your page or not enough.

Golden rule is to aim for 3 clicks or less from homepage to students learning.

I don’t have a class site or manage the Kootuitui whaanau site.
So this is a good opportunity to  have a discussion presenting my ideas to update.

Thank you once again to all the wonderful support of  Dorothy and our presenters .

Session 4 Dealing with Data: DFI Online FRIDAY 2020

Dealing with Data: DFI Online FRIDAY 2020 session 4

               Blogs tips

    • Blogs are a safe place for students to learn how to use social media
    • 3 safe check systems
      • Hāpara Teachers Dash Board
      • teachers email address
      • rolling down of all the students blogs

Huge learning curve again.this week around the follow topics and have enclosed the
                samples:

Thorough enjoyed the small group practicum with skilled facilitators who were very patient
and methodical to ensure we understood and covered the required learning
I was amazed at the short cut tips and range of tools in google sheets and forms
which will improve the ability collect more accurate data on the services we provide in the
                Homes Strand.

Our first large hang out was well organised.
Had some difficulties with intermittent WIFI so missed some of the information.presented
so didn't complete the My Map which I found interesting the layering of information.
Also had to learn how to manage working on two devices to watch presentation and do
practicums. So for me once again its important to practice, practice and
practice. And tutu around to experience and understand how different tools work.

Appreciate once again DFI and the value its bring to my professional development.

Thanks Dorothy and Gerhard and your wonderful team once again.

DFI - Media Session 3 Friday Auckland Cohort

Thoroughly enjoyed all of the Media session. Once again the time flew by Gerhard had to tell Nane and I we where the last ones on the hang out because we were so engaged in creating our presentations.

It challenged me once again as I immersed myself in the topics covered in the media session. Once again have been stretched and have experienced a huge learning curve.
Thank you Dorothy/Angela for being able to work remotely so I didn't miss this valuable session due to Covid 19. It had its challenges not seeing some of the presentations however appreciated colleges using the chat tool to instruct me how to remedy and Nane's sharing her knowledge.💗💗

The highlight today was creating my digital pepeha presentation. Reminding me I have a creative side which needs to be unleashed and definitely want/need to continue to develop voice over and practice Draft Pepeha Its a work in progress.

I found Kents presentation on live streaming interesting and a possible tool for showcasing event like Neighbours Day and useful for my Marae.

All the topics below covered were interesting and opening opportunities for me to share with kootuitui whaanau, work colleagues and wider community.

Learnt how to set up my Play list
  • Live Streaming
  • Youtube
  • Channels
  • Playlists
  • Google draw
  • Google slides
Tip of the week from me is 'Info graphics is an effective way of creatively presenting a more complex topic.

DFI

Workflow Session 2

My knowledge of learn from the Manaiakalani pedagogy of learn create share is increasing with the wealth of knowledge shared in today's  DFI. The thought "Teaching causes learning, effective teaching accelerate learning" resonates with me as we are challenged to share our learning with others.

Hang out practicum was great and more practice will be required to master. There was great value in this tool enabling presenter to share a presentation document to support their topic and hopeful accelerate participants learning.

Google Keep is a tool that will enable efficiency of my time allowing collaboration by trialing  shared check list with the whaanau to see if it increases work productivity.

Email management is a area of weakness so found it every valuable in building my confidence with lots of practice and being strategic a using a system that works effectively and efficiently for me.

I found a new friend in Mr Onetab as I am guilty of having lots of tabs open causing the  slowing of the computer  response time. One tab and Toby Mini tools will help me  regularly collect tabs that I use all the time to support effective workflow.

Teaching the whaanau how to use Hang out to increase participation in weekly meetings if they are unable participant in person. Shared Check list to support delegated tasks  but can still participant.

I will be using all the I have learnt today to management my person email, communication with whaanau and friends.

DFI Session 1 Clore Business

I have heard colleagues talk about the Manaiakalani Kaupapa and pedogogy and it was so great at
today's workshop to accelerated my own personal understanding of the impact it has on effective teaching and how important learning in a  digital learning environment
I love the pedagogy of Learn, create share which resonates with our Kootuitui whaanau moto of fill my kete, fill your kete which ensures it is a  sustainable model.

The learning journey today included so many new shortcuts to raise my level of professionalism and efficiency in my work flow. They are simple tools but when you don't know what you don't know until you know. The explore button provided key information, formatting and so much more which would have been life saving completing University assignments.  It reinforced some of my current practices using google doc and tables to assist setting out a poster graphics for flyer professionally.

Appreciated the session on creating, filing of documents, colour coding which is an area I need to improve and feel confident that I will be able to set up a system to find documents quickly.

What a pleasant surprised being able to gauge my current level of knowledge through completing the Scavenger hunt quiz practicum today.

Look forward to continuing to improve through new learning's from DFI and through what other group members share around their learning's and their  knowledge.
